The Champ de Mars is one of the most visited public spaces of Paris. It was originally used as a space for public gardens and then for military drills. Today, it is a large park overshadowed by the Eiffel Tower. This footage from c. 1900 shows the people of Paris enjoying the park, much like visitors do today.
