A beautiful restaurant in the Garden District, Coquette was top on my list of places to eat when visiting New Orleans. Built in the late 1800’s, the two story restaurant has a calm and relaxing atmosphere. I felt comfortable and catered to the whole time I was there. Huge chandeliers light the dining area and massive windows look out to the sights of New Orleans. It was fancy and cozy all at the same time. While I remember the feelings I had while eating there, I can’t exactly remember what I ate.. I chose the “Put yourselves in our hands” menu, meaning it was five courses of the chefs choosing. Blind menu. I always select this option when it’s available because I think it is a good view in to the mind of the chef and a great sample of the menu as a whole. I think my excitement about being there and the menu may have been why I ended up with seven courses : ) Even though I can’t fully remember the menu.. I took pics!
A sausage appetizer with a spicy mustard..
A beautiful crab salad..
Perfectly cooked fish..
Stunning seafood..
Delicious cut of pork on a finely diced bed of veggies..
Beautifully plated chocolate dessert..
And a smooth and silky ice cream..
I highly recommend Coquette when visiting New Orleans. There is a ‘James Beard Award’ buzz around them this year and I am not at all surprised.
