The English Rose is one of my favorite places. I first stumbled upon this amazing spot after arriving at Victoria Station. It had been a long night of travel and I found myself standing in the middle of London at 8 a.m. wondering what to do first. I was tired and hungry and needed a place to relax and get my bearings. To me, The English Rose has come to represent rest.

In a busy, fast paced city with many miles to be walked, The English Rose is a place to slow down and get comfortable for awhile. A place to recharge. It’s a cozy, friendly spot that serves up amazing food and delicious pots of tea with huge scones and clotted cream…

I really love all the breakfast choices. Fresh fruit with granola, smoked salmon with avocado and of course, the classic, bacon and eggs. I have been to the English Rose too many times to count now but when I first started going I tried to get something different each time…

Sometimes it’s fun to stop by in the middle of the day and have a more traditional tea time with all the treats. Cakes, little sandwiches and scones.. I realized tea time was one of my favorite times and I have now incorporated it in to my daily life. The English Rose sells everything you need, to have the perfect tea time at home. I have bought a few of their little serving bowls for my jam and clotted cream. It makes me happy everytime I use them, remembering my times there.

I love to try new, culturally different foods so it didn’t take long for me to order the Traditional English breakfast, even though it sounded huge! There is something about baked beans for breakfast that just feels right to me..It is honestly one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. It seems like an odd combination of foods..tomatoes, beans, eggs, mushrooms, various meats..but it really works together, and I had the energy to walk the ten miles I needed to that day.

The last time I visited The English Rose I had to take a train down from Scotland.. but it was worth the trip..It always is. I feel so comfortable there. The food, the staff, the feeling you get when you walk in the door.. it’s like coming home after a long day. I look forward to many more meals at The English Rose.
