A night at The Savoy Grill has always been a dream of mine. Walking through the doors and into the lobby was magical. I shed a tear or two of joy and wonder as I was led to my table…

Amazingly huge chandeliers hung from the ceiling..

And the place setting was beautiful, gold and crystal…

As I was seated I imagined all of the unique people who had frequented The Savoy Grill in the past… Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin, Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor and many, many more. From the early 1900s and on, The Savoy Grill was the place to be and to be seen while in London. It gave American celebrities a break from the press and allowed others, new to the scene, a chance to be discovered. So much history.. In 2003 The Savoy Grill brought in Gordon Ramsay to bring new life to the restaurant. I was so excited to be here and to eat more Gordon Ramsay food!! I chose the “Taste of Savoy Grill” for my meal. I always choose a tasting menu when it’s available because it is such a great overview of what the location has to offer. Small portions of so many different things..The bread was soft and fresh and the butter plate was warmed, as I have come to expect at a Ramsay restaurant.

Creamy lobster bisque to start..

Then a light and airy, glazed omelette..

A perfectly cooked scallop with confit chicken wings and a cauliflower purée.. stunning plating.

And my all time favorite, beef wellington. Tender, juicy steak surrounded by a flaky pastry crust.

The meal seemed to lighten slowly after this..A selection of British cheeses and fruit was next.

And to completely cleanse the palate before dessert.. The “Apple mojito”..

Dessert was Crêpes Suzette with chocolate orange ice cream. It is always fun to have tableside flambé!!

I will never forget my night at The Savoy Grill, it was everything I had dreamed it would be…The ultimate fine dining experience and a long time goal turned into reality.
