I recently visited Strasbourg for the world famous Christmas markets. There was plenty of street food to eat but after hours of walking around in the cold, I needed to sit down and warm up. Le Pfifferbriader looked like it might have some German food and I was so close to the border that I had to check it out. A cute wooden building with stained glass windows, it was very welcoming and cozy..
I decided to get some hot chocolate and two appetizers. Normally I would have ordered way more food because the menu was so interesting, but I had to get back to the markets if I wanted to see all 13 of them!
A giant plate of smoked salmon and capers with a chive sauce. A fresh and delicious salad and some warm bread..
And for some energy, Grumbeerkieschle with fresh Alsatian bibeleskaes and herbs. Potato pancakes and a sauce made from fresh white cheese, cream, onions, salt, pepper and herbs. And another amazingly fresh salad. This was a delicious, hearty and comforting food..
After my quick stop at Le Pfifferbriader, I felt rested and recharged. The food and staff and atmosphere were great. I continued my day and managed to see all 13 Christmas markets in Strasbourg. I kinda wanna go to Germany now and eat food…
