Cafe Central is one of the many restaurants on Rue Cler. After checking out the menu I decided to stop in for dinner. I was seated on the patio and watched the people go by. Some buying Christmas trees, some grabbing food and lots of school children walking home and grabbing snacks. I started with the charcuterie board, it was huge! Four types of meat and some pickles..
Also brought to the table was green olives and bread. I noticed this at many restaurants across Paris and I loved it..
I ordered the confit duck for dinner and it was amazing. The duck was so tender and had a rich, full flavor. The potatoes were crispy and had the same depth of flavor that the duck had. It is one of the best and most memorable dishes I have had in awhile..
For dessert I chose the profiteroles. A choux pastry filled with vanilla bean ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. They were delicious..
I also ordered an after dinner coffee because they are fun and cute. So tiny but they pack a powerful punch of caffeine..
I am so happy I got to visit Rue Cler. Julia Child is a culinary icon and to get to walk in her footsteps through the food vendors of Rue Cler was a dream come true.
